Emily is based out of Texas and rides a 2020 H-D Electra Glide Police. She helps coordinate events at Longhorn Harley-Davidson, so stop by and say hi! You can also catch her racing the upcoming Biltwell 100!
Where did you grow up and where do you currently reside?
I was born and raised in DFW, TX and currently live in Crowley, TX.
How did you initially get involved with motorcycles?
My husband and I bought our sons a dirt bike for Christmas, and I thought “that seems like a lot of fun.” So, my husband bought me a dirt bike for my birthday shortly after. I rode at local tracks from time to time. Discovered Babe in the Dirt — drove out to Tennessee in 2019 and met awesome women who, not only rode dirt but rode on the street. I was always very apprehensive about riding on the street. Quickly, after Babes in the Dirt I quit my paralegal job of 8 years and sought out something more exciting and much . So, I started working for a local DFW area Harley-Davidson dealership, Longhorn as the event coordinator. Still very anxious about riding on the rode… I was always told “it’s too dangerous.” I said f*ck that, I’m gonna learn to ride. And so I did!
When did you get your first bike and what was it?
Within a month of working at the dealership I bought my first bike, a 2003 Sportster 883. I wanted to rebuild it. Which I did and eventually entered into the Women’s Motorcycle Show at the Get On! Moto Fest at Texas Motor Speedway in 2021. Not really trusting it fully for my commute, I bought a 2021 H-D Street Bob.
What do you currently ride and why?
I have a 2020 H-D Electra Glide Police.
What is your happiest memory that involves motorcycles?
Riding alongside my husband is the tits, but riding with the ladies that I’ve come to know because of motorcycles is the best ever! Although, I think I’m most happiest when I’m solo riding. I can really drop all of my worries and concerns at the moment and focus on myself and the road.
Outside of motorcycles, tell us a little about yourself?
I’m a Navy veteran — spent 5 years in the Navy, stationed mostly in San Diego. Met my husband while serving and together we have 2 boys. Being a mom and a wife is truly rewarding, but can be very taxing, so I’m thrilled to have found something that’s therapeutic and keeps me sane. Haha!
How have you become a more confident rider? Things you’ve done to help you gain confidence?
I’m the type of person to just “do it” so, what works best for me is going out and just trying things out and practicing.
What is your dream trip/bucket list ride(s)?
1) Babes Ride Out!;
2) Daytona Bike Week;
3) Bikes, Blues & BBQ;
4) Sturgis; and
5) I want to coordinate my own all women’s campout here in Texas! (It is in the works!)
How do you think motorcycles have changed your life?
I’ve become a happier person! I’ve definitely gained self-confidence and with the change in my career — I’m loving what I’m doing now.
Do you have any upcoming motorcycle trips/rides planned?
I’m looking forward to the upcoming Biltwell 100 — I’ve always wanted to do some sort of dirt bike endurance race and last years’ Biltwell 100 looked like a blast and I would love to be apart of that this year. Also, really trying to make it to Bikes, Blues and BBQ this year!
