Brit is bike goals. She rides a 2019 Harley-Davidson 1200 Iron and a 2020 Harley-Davidson FXLRS Low Rider S. If you’re ever in the Detroit-ish area, hit up Britni to ride!
Where did you grow up and where do you currently reside? I’m originally from Orlando, FL but grew up in Michigan. Currently still here, I’ll call it Detroit-ish for the sake of simplicity.
How did you initially get involved with motorcycles? I have a fairly typical story, my dad is an enthusiast. The twist is that he went on to open a Harley-Davidson dealership when I was around 8 years-old. But I’ve loved motorcycles from the start.
When did you get your first bike and what was it? My first bike was a 2016 Harley-Davidson 883 SuperLow, had it ready the day I passed my riding course in July of 2017. Did not last long I immediately wanted an upgrade.
What do you currently ride and why? I have a 2019 Harley-Davidson 1200 Iron and a 2020 Harley-Davidson FXLRS Low Rider S. My Sporty is my baby, it was the first bike I was fully comfortable on from fit to confidence level. And with my 10 inch shocks, I can almost touch completely, which is a plus! Probably a good time to mention I am 4’10” and a proud member of the Tip Toe Gang.
My Low Rider S I got simply to prove to myself that I could handle a larger bike. She’s also quite a bit more suitable for longer rides than the Sporty.
What is your happiest memory that involves motorcycles? Damn, I don’t even know where to start honestly. Every time I see my motorcycle is like a straight shot of endorphins. A top 10 moment was taking my bike out alone for the first time. This may be second nature to most, but it was a big deal because up until a certain point and sometimes even now I need some help moving my bike around. So going out with out ‘back up’ was my biggest accomplishment at that point in time.
Outside of motorcycles, tell us a little about yourself? Outside of motorcycles….? Lol. Every aspect of my life has a little motorcycle in it. But I do love fitness. I enjoy pushing my body to its limits, having the discipline to commit, plan and conquer. I also love a creative moment, occasionally I paint/draw. Recently I acquired a wood burner. So, we’ll see how that goes.
How have you become a more confident rider? Things you’ve done to help you gain confidence? Confidence comes with experience. That’s in anything but especially in riding, you need to get out on your bike as much as possible. I’ve surrounded myself with passionate, experienced riders and I ask questions. If I find something needs work I’ll practice. A lot of my insecurities have been from being so small, I need to work a little harder at some things. I gained a lot of confidence by training in the gym. Having the strength to move my bike around easier and easier was such a confidence booster.
What is your dream trip/bucket list ride(s)? I would love to do the Tail of the Dragon, Blue Ridge Highway, Needles Highway… all of the stereotypical moto bucket list roads. My goal is to ride farther and farther and more challenging roads.
How do you think motorcycles have changed your life? I really can’t put into words how much they have changed my life. I can say I don’t know what I would do with out them. Love or hate (because there was a time I said I would never ride) they’ve been apart of my life in it’s entirety. Motorcycles encompass everything I love from being a sport to an art form. They are a literal therapy, I’ve found so much of myself in riding and let so many things go as well. There’s no better feeling in the world than being on a motorcycle.
Do you have any upcoming motorcycle trips/rides planned? I don’t have anything planned per se, I wouldn’t say I’m exactly the planning type. But I will ride as much as I can. Trips will be made. Do I know when or where? Not quite.
